THE NECESSITIES EXPLAINED
What You Need to Build an Invincible IP Surveillance System

Choose Your Camera: PTZ, Minidome, Fixed, HD, H.264 and More
IP Cameras come in all shapes and sizes and it can be difficult to choose one that will fit your needs. PTZ cameras offer a variety of functions, namely pan, tilt and zoom for large viewing area, which can be triggered by an event. Fixed cameras are designed to survey a specified location. Minidome cameras are a discreet and affordable surveillance option.
Unlike our competitors, Security Pro Shop only offers the best cameras from top selling brands so that your security isn’t compromised. Though some of these more advanced cameras cost a little more this usually means they will perform better in low light and have greater depth of field.

Software: A Must-Have
Software is used to trigger, schedule and maintain your cameras recording. It can be updated and is designed to be "future proof" to protect investment and change with new camera technologies. SPS is proud to be certified in Milestone, ONSSI, Axis Camera Station and the SONY Real Shot Manager NVR software.

Wireless Options
within a facility such as retail outlet where there is a need to move the camera to new locations on a regular basis without having to pull new cables every time. Another common use of wireless technology is to bridge two buildings or sites together without the need for expensive and complex ground works.

Make it Easy with Power Over Ethernet
within a facility such as retail outlet where there is a need to move the camera to new locations on a regular basis without having to pull new cables every time. Another common use of wireless technology is to bridge two buildings or sites together without the need for expensive and complex ground works.

NVRs: Store and Archive your Footage
NVR systems are now the industry standard for long term archiving and storage. Today’s NVR system can store 1000’s of cameras for long periods of time all on standard hard drive technology. NVR software is loaded onto storage servers where the servers make network based connections (IP) to local or remote cameras.

Integrate Old and New with Encoders and Decoders
Upgrading your analog system to network video is made easy with video encoders. Also known as video servers, these devices digitize and compress analog video signals and transmit the video over an IP network, such as a LAN, WAN, intranet or the Internet. It enables users to record and/or view live surveillance images using a Web browser or video management software on any local or remote computer on the network. Simply put, a video server turns an analog camera into a network camera. Decoders are designed to compress and/or decompress data for digital video.

Mounting Your System
Finding the right camera location should be your first step when purchasing surveillance equipment. Look for a safe, sturdy (no vibrations) location that can be safely accessed when the camera needs to be cleaned, but high enough to get the desired views. The type of mounting brackets you purchase will help correct the angles of view.

Why Use an IR Illuminator
Infrared illuminators are used in areas where light is not sufficient for surveillance. They are generally used with black and white cameras since these cameras have greater sensitivity to infrared light. Color cameras that have the capability to auto switch to black and white can take advantage of IR light at night to illuminate dark areas. Many network cameras are now designed with a built in IR cut filter that will help in utilizing IR effectively.

Beef Up Security with Motion Detection
Another vital component of a surveillance system, motion detectors contain an electronic sensor that can alert the user of a moving object and trigger the network camera to move toward the location.

Enclosures: Protecting Your Investment
To protect sensitive cameras and equipment from extreme temperatures, water, dust, insects, and vandalism, you need an outdoor enclosure that is rugged and tough yet is practical for your everyday need. Security ProShop highly recommends Dotworkz Systems environmental enclosures which provide the latest in state of the art camera protection. Outdoor cameras require a higher level of protection to avoid overheating, moisture, ice and even impact from rocks or other projectiles.

Necessary Cables: Cat5 & More
Connecting and completing your system requires secure cabling to ensure your system never goes down. For systems deployed in extreme weather conditions, Security ProShop recommends Cat5 Gel Coated cable. It can be ran exposed or buried and is tested and verified to 350 mhz.
